Once again this blog is about tamil cinema. I am a teevera fan of tamil cinema and songs are to me the best part of tamil (indian) cinema. We all have seen that when a movie involving a hero and heroine becomes a hit, the same duo is paired up again to repeat the success. some popular examples, MGR - Jayalalitha, Sivaji - Saroja Devi, Kamal - Sridevi, Rajni - Sripriya , Vijay - Trisha, Surya - Jyothika, Prabhu - Kushboo etc. There might be some more successful combinations and a better hero-heroine pair even for the mentioned duos. However the fact that repeat pairing of such duo's cannot be denied.

This particular success combination is not just limited to hero-heroines, but also extended to pairing of playback singers. Since songs are such a crucial part of tamil cinema, music directors in the past and the present are also following the same trend. Some of the popular duet playback singers in tamil cinema is SPB - Janaki, mano - chitra, hariharan - harini, unnikrishnan - sujatha, Kay Kay - Shreya ghosal now. You can also see that these singers sing duets in successively released movies. This issue shows the whole nature of tamil (indian) cinema, where people think thirteen (twice was too small) times before experimenting something new.

has there been any notable movies regarding a serious student who works hard and achieves success, in tamil movie industry. I cant remember one. I am writing this thinking about movies like beautiful mind and legally blonde, where they show I guess close to real life here in the states and make it interesting one and ofcourse with a lot of good message.

beautiful mind is about a student who looks awkward, clumsy, totally different from other students and comes up with a novel idea to get his phd, and gets a noble prize in the end. It also turns out he has a mental problem and the whole story is about how this noble prize winner overcomes it. this is a true life story and was a wonderful hit.

legally blonde on the other hand is again about a girl who everyone thinks as dumb, comes out with flying colors after joining harvard law school. she inspries everyone in her category, but the excellent thing abt the movie is showing common class lectures as it is and things that a students actually goes through in real life.

i dont remember college scenes in tamil movies without ragging, stupid professors and the hero going out with four friends and making fun. i dont think if even arts colleges are like those in india, ive never been in such a situation, isnt there a good director in india who can portray true life story of a serious student and make it a commercial hit.

what is lacking over there, aren't there ppl who are achieving success in schools, colleges after going through a lot of hardship, i know a lot of ppl who have done that. why do indian directors and producers think real life is always boring and making out of the way movies inspired by true incidents in students life cannot be sold.

Look i am not letting down tamil movies and directors, ive seen and have been inspired by movies like ethir neechal and some other balachander movies too, but what happend now.
but atleast there are some directors in tamil like maniratnam, shankar, selvaraghavan, bala and cheran who are trying to make close to life movies. recently kadhal, autograph, thavamai, kadhal kondaen were close, but there were too may made up scenes in autograph and kadhan kondaen so they dont qualify, thavamai and kadhal were good ones, but i am still waiting for a movie which can show real college life and the story of a scientist or someone who has worked really hard to come up. the above mentioned are some prospective directors who are capable of doing it lets wait and see.
